My Goth Public Library Branch

After changing into all black clothes and painting my face with deathly pale makeup, I headed over to the Jefferson Market branch of the NYPL this afternoon to check out books on Poe. The branch library is a treat for bookophiles looking for a nice public dungeon. The building, previously a courthouse and a woman's prison, enjoys a notorious past, one that includes the murder trial of architect Stanford White. Mae West was held here on obscenity charges.
While there I sketched one of the doors leading into a staff area, but I think I bothered people who were trying to read.
