• A cold front is moving through, bringing pleasant temperatures to the city. The weekend should be perfect for a stroll.

• NEW post - The President on Sullivan Street. President Obama visited the neighborhood last night, attending a fundraiser at the home of Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

• Stopped in to meet friends the other night at Jadis, a good wine bar at 42 Rivington on the Lower East Side. Highly recommended.

• Greenwich Village restaurant items: The Italian wine bar and restaurant Bellavitae on Minetta Lane has closed. Too bad. We liked that place. In addition, Monte's Trattoria on Macdougal is closed, and Ennio & Michael, a long staple of LaGuardia Place, also seems to be in its final months. Fedora Restaurant on W. 4th closed July 25. Arrivederci.
